Finally, today is the last day of 2009. I am scared to recognize how quick time goes by recently..
Looking back to 2009, it was very exciting year for me. It was the second year for Sake Japan as well as my restaurant Maedaya so me and my team have tried a lot of new things for good.
TOP 3 THINGS HAPPENED TO ME THIS YEAR
1: TOSHI MAEDA BEING ON A COVER OF THE AGE & EPICURE (I can't help it..)
2: KIKIZAKE SAKE TASTING EVENT VOL.1 & 2 (Thank you , Andre san !)
3: I AM BECOMING A DAD (Due in April !)
TOP 3 SAKE I MET THIS YEAR
1: KOSHINOHATSUUME KARAKUCHI HONJOZO HACHIKARA (On sale in January 2010)
2: IPPONGI JUNMAI GINJO YUKI (Just like snow melting on your palate.. It's BEAUTIFUL!)
3: KAMOSHIBITO KUHEIJI JUNMAI GINJO OMACHI (Thank you Hiro san for the introduction. It was a total new sensation! Hopefully one day we would get imported from Nagoya, Japan!)
At the end, I would like to send
A BIG THANK YOU to veryone who have been supporting SAKE JAPAN & MAEDAYA through a year. Without your support, I won't be here as what I am now.

Last Saturday afternoon, we had a sake & shochu tasting event at CARWYN CELLARS in Thornbury, Victoria.
We had 13 people attended the event and we tasted 3 Sake, 3 Shochu & 1 Umeshu along with a Sake & Shochu lecture.
Sake Tasting List @Carwyn Cellars
1.Kizakura Kuranouta Junmai
2.Ranman Ginjo Reiryo
3.Kizakura Yamahai Jikomi
4.Shironotakumi Kome (rice) Shochu
5.Kakushigura Mugi (barley) Shochu

At the last, I would like to thank you to all my staff at Maedaya who shares a passion & pleasure with me to make a great Izakaya in Richmond under a name of Maedaya.
I know without everyone's support, I couldn' make even 20% of what I have done. My ability is still limited and I am not a perfect man at all but I promise I will try to make 120% of myself all the time to simply make everyone happy.
Thank you so much for caring and looking after me.
Korekaramo Yoroshikuonegaishimasu.
Surprise, Surprise!!
Sake Master Toshi Maeda was on the cover of THE AGE front page with Tiger Woods & the cover of EPICURE of 10th Nov 2009 issue. THE AGE had a article about Izakaya in Melbourne and Maedaya was featured as the one with Melb's best sake menu in the article as well.

I was shot with Sake Barrel which my favorite sakagura RANMAN gave me early this year. (As well as 3 Ranman bottles on the right hand top of the picture!)

Everyone, please make a way to MAEDAYA and please celebrate it with me by KANPAI on SAKE!

Good Morning,
Yesterday, I have got back in Melbourne from Brisbane. It has been super hot in Melbourne right now and when I arrived in Melbourne airport, I felt like I was back in Brisbane..
The Good Food & Wine Show in Brisbane has been finished successfully. It was great to see a lot of Brisbane people getting into Sake & Umeshu.

Also, I had a sake lesson & tasting staff training for Sono Restaurant last thursday and soon after it, I had another sake tasting event at Mizu Restaurant. (It was a bit wired that I had to explain Sake in Japanese to Australian. They understand Japanese perfectly! ) we had about 20 people each on both events and I hope people there would understand more about Sake and enjoy it.
I would like to thank to Jack san from Sono for organizing the staff traning at Sono, Chaki san & Mark san for organizing a tasting event at Mizu and Paul Taylor san & Erika san for thier great assistant for GFWS.
I will come back again soon, Brisbane! See you soon.
