sake master blog
Today, I have updated 2 new products on Sake Japan.
They are called
HAAMONII SHOCHU & HAAMONII SHOCHU LEMON.
They are both made in California, USA by a Japanese couple who loves Japanese traditional spirit Shochu and decided to produce it in USA !? I don't know the story behind too much but it sounds very interesting to me. They are both made from Wheat & Barley so i could imagine the flavour a bit.
I have tasted USA born SHOCHU for the first time in my life.
It's quite clean & smooth at the first sip. A long lasting sweet & rich taste with a semi dry finish. Its a bit different from Japanese trational style Mugi (barley) Shochu but actually this one could be easier to be drunk by Australian people who hasn't tried Shochu before.
Also, this could be a perfect new ingredients for sake cocktail surely. I will try a few now and i will update some recipe if I come up with good cocktails.
HAAMONII SHOCHU will be displayed and tasted at Melbourne's another great food & wine event called
TASTE OF MELBOURNE 27 - 30 Aug at Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton VIC.
If you are makeing a plan to go there, please try some HAAMONII!

new 300ml bottle RANMAN TOKUSEN GINJO from one of my favorite sake brewery

This cute mini bottle is
only $14 and there are all good elements of Ranman infused in this mini bottle. You could instantly see the true flavour & goodness of Ranman.
You can drink it chilled but also warmed one is very good.
Thank you, Ranman! Enjoy Ranman!!

Last Monday, I finally got to visit Australia’s only sake brewery called GO-SHU, located about 50kms west of Sydney, NSW.
It was my friend Andre Bishop san’s idea (from Nihonshu sake bar) and I am very glad that he made an appointment for the KURA (brewery) tour and took me there with him. (Thank you so much, Andre san

)

Since GOSHU was established in 1988, they have been producing quality Australian made Sake to inside and outside of the country. GOSHU’s managing director Allan Noble san & head brewer (Toji) Uchiyama san were both very nice and friendly and they showed us all around the KURA.

I was quite impressed by the set up and of course, the taste of their products, especially GO-SHU JUNMAI DAIGINJO was so fresh & subtle.
Thank you again to Allan san, Uchiyama san & Andre san for this great experience.

Good Food & Wine Show 2009 Melb was finished last monday very successfully. There were almost twice more people at the show compare to the last years maybe because of Mr.Gordon Ramsay.
At Sake Japan booth, we have served
over 10000 tasting cups (which is worth about 150L of Sake & Umeshu!!) in 4 days! My good surprise was, this year, more people were asking for Sake than Umeshu. Considerring last year was totally opposite, I recognized that more people are stepping into Sake world finally. I am very happy with that fact honestly.

Next Sake Japan Event will be held at
The Good Food & Wine Show Sydney, Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre from 3 July (Fri) to 5 July (Sun)
If you would like to try some quality Sake & Umeshu, purchase some sake bottles or ask me any questions about sake, please come to visit Sake Japan Booth.
Hope to see you there!
